Mixing Advice

Mixing “Angel in Blue”

Angel in Blue

Despite being a mastering engineer, I do quite a bit of mixing work. I’d already mixed at least a dozen tracks for Declaration before tackling “Angel in Blue,” and I’ve since mixed a couple more.

Thomas gave me permission to record and share the entire mixing process, from pulling the files off Dropbox to final tweaks. I typically spend half of the time editing vocals in Melodyne, and this mix was no exception. Consider yourself warned. 😂

The mix itself was done in Ableton Live 9, not because it’s the best DAW for mixing, but simply because I’m the most fluent in it.

Let me know if you find it useful — or not! There are 9 videos in total, coming in at just under 6 hours. If you don’t make it through the whole thing, which I expect will be the case for most of you, let me know where I lost you!

You’ll find the playlist here, as well as embedded below.
